This Watermelon Lemonade is a light and refreshing summer drink combining pureed watermelon with homemade lemonade. Perfectly sweetened and garnished with watermelon slices, it’s an easy-to-make beverage that will keep you cool on hot days.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 cups cubed watermelon
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ½ cup water (for sugar syrup)
  • 3 cups cold water
  • ½ cup fresh lemon juice
  • 6 cups ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Prepare Watermelon Puree: Place the cubed watermelon into a blender, cover it, and puree until smooth. Then strain the puree through a fine mesh sieve to remove any pulp and seeds for a smooth texture.
  2. Make Lemonade Base: In a saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the white sugar and ½ cup of water. Bring to a boil and stir frequently until the sugar dissolves completely, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
  3. Combine Lemonade Ingredients: To the sugar syrup, add 3 cups of cold water and ½ cup of fresh lemon juice. Stir well to mix.
  4. Assemble Drinks: Divide ice cubes evenly among 12 glasses. Spoon 2 to 3 tablespoons of the watermelon puree over the ice in each glass, then pour the lemonade mixture on top.
  5. Mix and Serve: Gently stir each glass to combine the watermelon puree with the lemonade before serving. Optionally, garnish with a watermelon slice for presentation.

Notes

  • For an adult version, add a splash of vodka to each glass for a refreshing cocktail.
  • Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor.
  • Ensure to strain the watermelon puree to avoid pulp in the drink.
  • Adjust the sugar amount according to your desired sweetness level.
