Ingredients

Brownie Layer

  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 1/4 cups white sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup flour

Cookie Dough Layer

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (at room temperature)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Additional

  • 1 package regular or double stuffed Oreo cookies

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Brownie Layer: In a medium saucepan, melt 10 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium-high heat. Once melted, stir in 1 1/4 cups white sugar and 3/4 cup cocoa powder. Whisk to combine and then remove the pan from heat. Add 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, and 2 large eggs, whisking continuously until the eggs are fully incorporated. Finally, whisk in 1/2 cup flour until combined. Set this brownie batter aside.
  2. Prepare the Cookie Dough Layer: Using a mixer, cream together 1/2 cup room temperature unsalted butter with 1/4 cup brown sugar and 3/4 cup white sugar until smooth and fluffy. Add 1 egg and 1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract, mixing well and scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 1/4 cups flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture on low speed until just incorporated. Fold in 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips gently. Set the cookie dough aside.
  3. Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×9 inch baking pan with tin foil or parchment paper, ensuring it hangs over the edges for easy removal after baking. Lightly spray the foil or parchment with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  4. Assemble the Slutty Brownies: Press the prepared cookie dough evenly into the bottom of the lined baking pan, forming a solid base layer. Place Oreo cookies in a single layer over the cookie dough to cover its surface without overlapping.
  5. Add the Brownie Layer: Pour the brownie batter evenly over the Oreo layer, spreading gently to cover all cookies completely.
  6. Bake: Place the baking pan in the preheated oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes. To check doneness, insert a knife into the center; if it comes out clean, the brownies are done. If there is batter on the knife, bake for an additional 5 minutes and test again.
  7. Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool and rest for at least 2 hours before slicing. This resting time helps the layers to set and makes cutting easier. Slice into 16 squares and serve.

Notes

  • Use regular or double stuffed Oreos depending on your preference for extra creaminess.
  • Be careful not to overbake the brownies to keep them fudgy.
  • Allowing the dessert to rest before cutting ensures cleaner slices.
  • If you don’t have unsalted butter, ensure salted butter is used cautiously as the recipe already includes added salt.
  • Line your pan with foil or parchment and spray it; this makes removing the entire slab easier for cutting.
