These adorable Pretzel Pumpkins are a fun and festive treat perfect for Halloween or fall celebrations. Made with crunchy mini pretzels dipped in bright orange candy melts and decorated with green mini M&Ms as pumpkin stems, these bite-sized snacks are easy to assemble and sure to delight kids and adults alike. The candies harden to create a glossy pumpkin shape, and optional black candy decoration can be added for a spooky Jack O’Lantern face.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 24 Mini Pretzels
  • 1 cup Orange Candy Melting Chips
  • 24 Green Mini M&Ms
  • Optional: 1 Black Candy Melting Chip (for Jack O’Lantern face)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pretzels: Lay the 24 mini pretzels out evenly spaced on a wax paper-lined cookie sheet to prevent sticking.
  2. Melt the orange candy chips: Place the 1 cup of orange candy melting chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds, then stir. Repeat heating in 15-second intervals, stirring each time until fully melted and smooth. Allow to cool slightly for 2-3 minutes so that the candy is not too hot to handle.
  3. Dip the pretzels: Dip each pretzel into the melted orange candy, coating it thoroughly. Place the dipped pretzels back onto the wax paper-lined cookie sheet to set.
  4. Pipe pumpkin shapes: Transfer some of the melted candy into a corner of a zippered plastic bag and snip off a tiny piece of the corner to use as a piping bag. Pipe lines of candy over the inside of each pretzel to create the segments of a pumpkin. Smooth the candy gently with your finger if needed.
  5. Add the stems: Place one green mini M&M onto the side of each pretzel as the pumpkin stem. If needed, dab a little melted candy onto the back of the M&M to act as glue and secure it firmly.
  6. Set the pumpkins: Place the prepared cookie sheet in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes to allow the candy pumpkins to fully harden and set.
  7. Optional – decorate faces: If desired, melt one black candy chip by microwaving for 45-60 seconds. Using a toothpick dipped in the melted black candy, paint spooky Jack O’Lantern faces onto the pumpkins once set for an extra festive touch.

Notes

  • You can substitute any orange candy melts or colored vanilla chips if preferred.
  • Make sure the melted candy has cooled slightly before dipping to avoid melting the pretzels.
  • The piping step creates a more defined pumpkin shape but can be skipped for a simpler treat.
  • Store pretzel pumpkins in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to keep crisp.
  • Use wax paper to prevent sticking when setting in the fridge.
  • Melt black candy slowly and carefully to avoid burning when decorating faces.
