Ready in just 20 minutes, it’s a flavorful and healthy dinner option packed with vibrant tastes and simple ingredients.

Ingredients

For the Honey-Garlic Glaze

  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

For the Salmon

  • 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
  • 4 (6-ounce) salmon fillets, patted dry with paper towels
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced into rounds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, reduced-sodium soy sauce, fresh lemon juice, and crushed red pepper flakes until well combined.
  2. Sear the salmon: Heat 2 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot but not smoking, place the salmon fillets skin side up in the skillet. Season the salmon with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Cook the fillets until the flesh is just heated through and a golden sear forms underneath, about 2 minutes.
  3. Flip and cook with garlic: Carefully flip the salmon fillets so they are skin side down. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the skillet. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute, ensuring the garlic does not burn.
  4. Add glaze and lemons: Pour the honey mixture over the salmon in the skillet along with the lemon slices. Cook while occasionally basting the salmon with the sauce until the sauce has reduced by approximately one-third and the salmon is cooked through, about 3 minutes more.

Notes

  • Patting the salmon dry before cooking helps achieve a better sear.
  • Use reduced-sodium soy sauce to control the saltiness of the dish.
  • Adjust crushed red pepper flakes according to your preferred spice level.
  • Serve the salmon immediately for best texture and flavor.
  • Pairs well with steamed rice or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
