These Hawaiian Roll Breakfast Sliders are a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast treat featuring fluffy scrambled eggs, savory chicken or turkey sausage, and melted cheddar cheese all layered between soft Hawaiian rolls. Topped with a buttery maple glaze and a sprinkle of poppy seeds, these sliders bake to golden perfection, making them perfect for brunches, family gatherings, or an indulgent weekend breakfast.

Ingredients

Slider Base

  • 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese
  • 12 large eggs, scrambled and cooked
  • 12 ounces breakfast sausage (chicken or turkey), cooked
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Maple Butter Glaze

  • ¾ cup maple syrup, divided
  • 4 tablespoons butter, divided
  • ¾ teaspoon poppy seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350° F (175° C) to prepare for baking the sliders.
  2. Prepare the buns: Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally to separate the tops from the bottoms. Arrange the bottom halves evenly in a sheet pan or a 9 x 13 inch baking dish.
  3. Layer the fillings: On the bottom halves, place the sliced cheddar cheese, followed by the cooked scrambled eggs, cooked sausage, and shredded cheddar cheese. Then cover with the top halves of the rolls.
  4. Melt the butter: Place butter in a small microwave-safe bowl and heat in 10-second increments, stirring after each, until fully melted.
  5. Make and apply the glaze: Mix ¼ cup of the maple syrup with 3 tablespoons of the melted butter. Use a pastry brush to evenly coat the tops of the sliders with this maple-butter glaze. Sprinkle the poppy seeds over the top.
  6. Bake the sliders: Lightly cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the cheese has melted and the sliders are heated through.
  7. Serve: Slice the baked sliders into individual portions. Combine the remaining maple syrup and melted butter for a dipping sauce and serve alongside the sliders.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use real butter rather than margarine.
  • Chicken or turkey sausage keeps the sliders lighter, but pork sausage can also be used if preferred.
  • You can prepare the sausage and eggs in advance to save time in the morning.
  • The glaze can be adjusted to taste by varying the amount of maple syrup or butter.
  • These sliders are best served warm fresh from the oven for optimal gooey cheese.
