These Greek Burgers are a flavorful twist on the classic burger, featuring a blend of ground beef, spinach, feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, and Mediterranean spices. Served on toasted buns with fresh veggies and creamy tzatziki sauce, they are a delicious and satisfying meal for any occasion.

Ingredients

Burger Patties:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 5 ounces fresh baby spinach leaves, chopped
  • 2 ounces crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/3 cup chopped sun-dried tomatoes
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon table salt

Additional Ingredients:

  • Sandwich buns
  • Fresh baby spinach leaves
  • Sliced tomato
  • Sliced shallot
  • Tzatziki sauce

Instructions

  1. Make Burger Patties: Combine and mix together all burger patty ingredients in a large bowl. Form into 4 patties, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to harden.
  2. Toast Buns: Heat a pan over medium heat or use a grill. Working in batches, drizzle the inside faces of buns with cooking oil and place face down on the pan. Cook until toasted, a few minutes. Transfer to a serving plate.
  3. Cook Burger Patties: Increase to medium-high heat (or keep at medium heat to lessen the amount of smoke; it will just take longer to cook). Drizzle cooking oil over the pan. Working in batches, cook patties until charred on both sides and the internal temperature reaches 160°F, flipping occasionally. Add more oil if the pan gets dry.
  4. Serve: Assemble burgers by distributing patties and toppings among buns. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Note 1: You can use ground lamb for a more traditional Greek flavor.
  • Note 4: Choose your favorite type of sandwich buns for this recipe.
  • Note 5: Tzatziki sauce can be store-bought or homemade.
