Delicious garlic basil white bean hummus made with flavorful garlic, zesty lemon juice, and fresh basil. This easy white bean hummus recipe is perfect as a healthy snack to pair with veggies, crackers, pita chips, or as a flavorful spread or sauce.

Ingredients

Hummus Ingredients

  • 1 (15 ounce) can cannellini beans, rinsed and drained
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 6 large basil leaves
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil, plus extra for drizzling
  • Water, to thin if necessary

Instructions

  1. Prepare ingredients. Gather all the ingredients including rinsed cannellini beans, chopped garlic, fresh lemon juice, basil leaves, salt, pepper, and olive oil.
  2. Start blending. Add the beans, garlic, lemon juice, basil leaves, salt, and pepper into the bowl of a food processor. Pulse a couple of times until the mixture appears coarsely chopped but combined.
  3. Add olive oil and blend thoroughly. With the food processor running, drizzle in the 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Continue to process until the hummus is creamy and smooth.
  4. Adjust consistency. If the hummus appears too thick, add water one tablespoon at a time while blending to thin it out to your desired consistency.
  5. Season to taste. Taste the hummus and add more salt and pepper as needed for balanced flavor.
  6. Serve. Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl, drizzle a little olive oil on top, and garnish with additional fresh basil leaves. Serve with pita chips, fresh veggies, or crackers.

Notes

  • For an extra boost of flavor, try roasting a whole head of garlic and adding it to the hummus instead of raw garlic.

  • You can adjust the amount of lemon juice or garlic to suit your taste preferences.
  • This hummus keeps well in the refrigerator for up to 4 days when stored in an airtight container.
