This easy Breakfast Pizza combines a crispy pre-cooked pizza dough base topped with savory sausage-flavored country gravy, crumbled breakfast sausage, and melted mozzarella cheese. Perfect for a hearty morning meal, this dish is quick to assemble and bake, delivering comfort and flavor in every bite.

Ingredients

Base

  • 1 can refrigerated pizza dough

Gravy

  • 1 packet sausage flavored country gravy mix
  • ¾ cup pre-cooked crumbled sausage (or turkey sausage)

Topping

  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Optional: olive oil for brushing the crust edges

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (205°C) to prepare for baking the pizza.
  2. Prepare the Baking Dish: Spray a 9″x13″ baking sheet or a similar-sized dish with non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
  3. Pre-cook the Pizza Dough: Roll out the refrigerated pizza dough according to package instructions and bake it in the prepared dish for 6 minutes to set the crust.
  4. Cook the Country Gravy: In a saucepan, prepare the sausage flavored country gravy mix by whisking frequently until thickened and smooth, following package directions.
  5. Assemble the Pizza: Pour the cooked country gravy evenly over the pre-baked pizza dough, spreading as much as you like and reserving some for dipping.
  6. Add Cheese and Sausage: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the gravy-covered dough, then evenly distribute the pre-cooked sausage crumbles on top. Feel free to add extra toppings like eggs or cheddar cheese if desired.
  7. Optional Crust Brush: Lightly brush the edges of the pizza crust with olive oil to enhance golden color and flavor.
  8. Bake: Place the assembled pizza back in the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the crust is golden brown and cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

  • You can substitute turkey sausage for a leaner option.
  • Reserve extra gravy for dipping or serving on the side.
  • Additional toppings like scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, or green onions complement the pizza well.
  • Ensure the crust is baked sufficiently in the initial step to prevent sogginess.
  • Brushing the crust with olive oil is optional but adds a nice texture and color.
