These Easy Bang Bang Chicken Skewers are a flavorful and quick-to-make appetizer or main dish featuring juicy, marinated chicken thighs cooked to perfection in an air fryer. Coated with a creamy, tangy, and spicy Bang Bang sauce, they are perfect for a crowd-pleasing snack or meal that combines crispy edges with tender centers.

Ingredients

Chicken Marinade

  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Bang Bang Sauce

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce (or more to taste)
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken: Cut the boneless, skinless chicken thighs into uniform 1-inch cubes for even cooking.
  2. Marinate the chicken: In a large mixing bowl, toss the chicken cubes with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until well coated. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  3. Make the Bang Bang sauce: In a separate bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, hot sauce, honey, and salt until smooth. Set aside.
  4. Thread the chicken onto skewers: Carefully skewer the marinated chicken cubes, leaving small gaps between pieces to ensure even cooking and proper air circulation.
  5. Brush with sauce: Generously coat the chicken skewers with some of the prepared Bang Bang sauce before cooking.
  6. Preheat the air fryer: Set your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and allow it to preheat.
  7. Cook the chicken skewers: Place the skewers in the preheated air fryer basket in a single layer without overcrowding. Air fry for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through to promote even browning and ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  8. Finish with sauce: Once cooked, brush the skewers with additional Bang Bang sauce for that extra flavor boost.
  9. Serve: Serve the skewers hot, garnished with freshly chopped parsley or sesame seeds if desired, along with extra Bang Bang sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • For best results, use boneless skinless chicken thighs as they remain juicy after air frying.
  • Soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes before use to prevent burning in the air fryer.
  • Adjust the amount of hot sauce in the Bang Bang sauce to your preferred spice level.
  • If you don’t have an air fryer, these skewers can be grilled or baked but cooking times may vary.
  • Let cooked chicken rest for a couple of minutes after air frying for juices to redistribute.
