These Turkey Meatballs are a simple, flavorful, and healthy dish perfect for a quick dinner. Made with lean ground turkey, seasoned with Italian herbs and Parmesan, these meatballs can be baked, air fried, or cooked on the stovetop, making them a versatile protein option.

Ingredients

Meatball Mixture

  • 1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 2 Tbsp grated Parmesan
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 lb. ground turkey
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat and mix dry ingredients: Preheat your oven to 400ºF (200ºC). In a bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to create a well-seasoned base for your meatballs.
  2. Combine with turkey and egg: In a separate large bowl, add the ground turkey and then incorporate the egg followed by the breadcrumb mixture. Gently use your hands to mix everything evenly, making sure not to overwork the meat to keep the meatballs tender.
  3. Shape meatballs: Divide the mixture into 16 equal portions, roughly two tablespoons each. For accuracy, first divide the mixture into quarters, then each quarter into four pieces, shaping each into a round meatball.
  4. Baking method: Arrange the meatballs on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes until cooked through. For a crispier exterior, bake for 15 minutes, then transfer meatballs to a hot skillet with butter and sauté for about 5 minutes until browned.
  5. Air frying option: Preheat your air fryer to 400ºF (200ºC). Place meatballs in the basket without overcrowding and cook for approximately 8 minutes, shaking halfway through to ensure even browning and thorough cooking. Work in batches if needed.
  6. Stovetop cooking: Heat 1 Tbsp of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs in batches of 8, cooking each side for 2-3 minutes until browned and cooked through. This method creates a deliciously seared crust.
  7. Serve and enjoy: Once cooked by your preferred method, serve the meatballs hot, paired with your favorite sides or sauces.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the meatball mixture to avoid tough meatballs.
  • All three cooking methods—baking, air frying, and stovetop—yield great results; choose based on your available equipment and texture preference.
  • If baking and opting for extra browning, finishing meatballs in a skillet adds a nice crispy crust.
  • Meatballs can be served with pasta, in a sandwich, or as a protein-packed snack.
  • Use parchment paper for easy cleanup when baking.
