This Easy Baked Salmon with Mayonnaise is a deliciously simple recipe that combines creamy mayonnaise, sweet maple syrup, and savory soy sauce to create a flavorful glaze. Topped with crunchy sliced almonds and fresh chives, this baked salmon is tender, moist, and perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a special occasion.

Ingredients

Sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 ½ tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp minced garlic

Salmon and Toppings

  • 1 ½ lb fresh salmon fillet
  • ¼ cup sliced almonds
  • 1 tbsp minced chives or green onion

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425ºF (218ºC) to ensure it is hot and ready for baking the salmon evenly.
  2. Prepare Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, maple syrup, soy sauce, and minced garlic until smooth and well combined. Spread this sauce evenly over the salmon fillet, coating it thoroughly but avoid pouring extra sauce into the baking pan. Reserve any leftover sauce for serving.
  3. Add Toppings and Bake: Sprinkle the sliced almonds evenly over the coated salmon. Place the salmon on a baking sheet and bake for 12 to 16 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 120ºF to 125ºF, ensuring the salmon is cooked but still tender and moist.
  4. Rest and Serve: Remove the salmon from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute. Sprinkle the chopped chives over the top and serve with the reserved sauce on the side for extra flavor.

Notes

  • Do not pour the sauce into the baking pan; just coat the salmon to keep the texture ideal.
  • Use a food thermometer to check for the perfect salmon doneness between 120ºF to 125ºF for moist, tender results.
  • If you prefer, substitute chives with green onions or fresh dill for a different herb flavor.
  • This recipe pairs well with steamed vegetables or a fresh green salad for a complete meal.
  • Salmon can be fresh or thawed from frozen for this recipe.
