Ingredients

Cookie Dough

  • 1/2 cup Butter (Unsalted, Room temperature)
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 Egg (Large, Room temperature)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1.5 cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon powder
  • 1 tsp Baking powder

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1.5 tsp Cinnamon powder

Instructions

  1. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted room temperature butter and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy. This step helps create a tender texture for the cookies.
  2. Add Egg and Vanilla: Beat in the large egg and vanilla extract until just combined to incorporate moisture and flavor into the dough.
  3. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cinnamon powder, and baking powder evenly distributing the leavening and spice.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Use your hands if needed to bring the mixture together into a cohesive cookie dough.
  5. Chill Dough: Cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for about 1 hour. This step firms up the dough making it easier to handle and preventing excessive spreading during baking.
  6. Form Cookie Balls: Scoop small portions of the chilled dough and roll them into smooth balls with your hands.
  7. Prepare Cinnamon Sugar Coating: In a small bowl, combine granulated sugar and cinnamon powder, mixing thoroughly.
  8. Coat Dough Balls: Roll each cookie dough ball in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated, adding a sweet and crunchy exterior.
  9. Arrange on Tray: Place the coated dough balls onto a cookie tray lined with parchment paper, spacing them to allow for baking expansion.
  10. Bake Cookies: Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius) for 10-12 minutes, or until the cookies turn golden brown and edges feel firm to the touch.
  11. Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool to room temperature on the tray before enjoying their perfect texture and sweet cinnamon flavor.

Notes

  • For best results, use room-temperature butter and eggs to ensure proper creaming and a tender crumb.
  • Chilling the dough is essential to control the spread of the cookies while baking.
  • Store baked cookies in an airtight container to maintain freshness for up to one week.
  • Feel free to add chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts to the dough for extra texture.
  • If you prefer softer cookies, reduce the baking time by a minute or two, checking for doneness.
