These Chocolate & Peanut Butter Crispy Bars combine a fudgy brownie base with layers of chunky peanut butter and a crispy chocolate-peanut butter topping. Perfect for a decadent treat, they offer a delightful mix of textures and rich flavors in every bite.

Ingredients

Brownie Layer

  • 1 package fudge brownie mix (13×9-inch pan size)

Peanut Butter Layers

  • 1 1/2 cups chunky peanut butter
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter

Crispy Chocolate Topping

  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3 cups Rice Krispies cereal

Instructions

  1. Prepare and bake brownies: Line a 13×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper, allowing the ends to extend up the sides for easy removal later. Prepare the brownie mix following the package directions and bake in the prepared pan. Once baked, cool the brownies on a wire rack for 30 minutes, then refrigerate until fully cold.
  2. Spread chunky peanut butter layer: Once the brownies are chilled, evenly spread 1 1/2 cups of chunky peanut butter over the top, creating a creamy layer.
  3. Melt chocolate and creamy peanut butter: In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the semisweet chocolate chips with 1 cup creamy peanut butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the mixture is completely melted and smooth.
  4. Add crispy rice cereal and spread topping: Stir the 3 cups of Rice Krispies into the melted chocolate and peanut butter mixture, then spread this crispy topping evenly over the chunky peanut butter layer on the brownies.
  5. Chill and set: Refrigerate the layered brownies, covered, for at least 30 minutes or until the topping is fully set and firm.
  6. Cut and store: Using the parchment paper edges, lift the bars out of the pan. Cut into approximately 24 bars. Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep fresh.

Notes

  • For easier cutting, use a sharp knife and warm it slightly before slicing.
  • You can substitute crunchy peanut butter for a smoother texture, or vice versa, depending on preference.
  • Store bars refrigerated to maintain the crispy topping and prevent melting.
  • Make sure brownies are completely cooled and chilled before adding the peanut butter layers to prevent melting.
