This Cherry Lime Smoothie is a deliciously sweet and tart beverage made with frozen cherries, fresh lime, and creamy Greek yogurt for a protein boost. With just six simple ingredients, it’s easy to prepare and delivers a thick, creamy texture reminiscent of cherry limeade. Perfect for a refreshing breakfast or snack, this smoothie is gluten-free, grain-free, and vegetarian-friendly.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup frozen cherries (tart preferred)
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 2 large pitted Medjool dates
  • ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼-½ cup dairy free milk (almond milk recommended), plus more as needed
  • ½ cup ice

Instructions

  1. Soften Dates: Begin by soaking the pitted Medjool dates in 1 cup of very warm water for at least 5 minutes. This softens the dates, making them ideal for blending and ensuring a smooth texture.
  2. Prepare Ingredients: While the dates soak, gather and measure all remaining ingredients including frozen cherries, lime zest, lime juice, Greek yogurt, vanilla, dairy free milk, and ice to have everything ready for blending.
  3. Blend Smoothie: Add all ingredients—soaked dates (with water drained), frozen cherries, lime zest, lime juice, Greek yogurt, vanilla, dairy free milk, and ice—into a high powered blender. Blend on high speed until smooth and creamy. If the smoothie is too thick, add additional milk gradually to your desired consistency.
  4. Serve: Pour the smoothie into a glass and enjoy immediately for a refreshing, nutritious treat.

Notes

  • To make the smoothie dairy free, substitute the Greek yogurt with your favorite plant-based yogurt, such as Siggi’s plant-based yogurt.
