Cheesy Chicken Crescent Rolls are golden brown, soft crescent rolls filled with a flavorful mixture of shredded chicken, sour cream, ranch seasoning, cheddar cheese, and turkey bacon, topped with a rich homemade cheese sauce. This comforting American dish is perfect for a satisfying dinner or main course.

Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • 3 cups shredded cooked chicken (rotisserie chicken works great)
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 (1 ounce) packet ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup cooked and crumbled turkey bacon
  • 2 (8 ounce) tubes crescent rolls

For the Cheese Sauce:

  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

For garnish (optional):

  • Dried parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Baking Dish: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Make Chicken Filling: In a large bowl, combine shredded cooked chicken, sour cream, ranch seasoning mix, shredded cheddar cheese, and cooked crumbled turkey bacon. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Prepare Crescent Rolls: Open the tubes of crescent rolls and separate the dough into individual triangles. Place a large spoonful of the chicken mixture at the wide end of each crescent roll triangle.
  4. Roll Crescent Rolls: Starting from the wide end, carefully roll up each crescent roll, enclosing the filling inside. Place the rolled crescent rolls seam-side down in the prepared baking dish, arranging them evenly.
  5. Bake Crescent Rolls: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Prepare Cheese Sauce: While the rolls are baking, combine cream of chicken soup and whole milk in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk frequently until the mixture is smooth and begins to simmer.
  7. Add Cheese to Sauce: Stir in shredded cheddar cheese until fully melted and smooth. Remove the sauce from heat.
  8. Top Crescent Rolls with Sauce and Continue Baking: After the crescent rolls are baked, pour the cheese sauce evenly over the top. Return the baking dish to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbly and heated through.
  9. Garnish and Serve: Optionally sprinkle dried parsley over the top for garnish. Scoop servings onto plates, making sure to include extra cheese sauce poured on top for a delicious finish.

Notes

  • Rotisserie chicken can be substituted with any cooked chicken breast or thigh meat.
  • Turkey bacon can be replaced with regular bacon or omitted for a lower-fat version.
  • For a spicier twist, add diced jalapeños to the filling mixture.
  • Make sure not to overfill the crescent rolls to avoid leaking during baking.
  • The cheese sauce can be prepared ahead and reheated before pouring over the crescent rolls.
  • Serve with a side salad or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
