Ingredients

Beef Mixture

  • 1 Pound Lean Ground Beef
  • 1 Small Yellow Onion (diced)
  • 2 Tablespoons Ketchup
  • 1 Tablespoon Yellow Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper

Slider Assembly

  • 1 12-count Package Hawaiian Rolls
  • 6 Slices American Cheese
  • 1 1/2 Cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese (divided)
  • 3 Tablespoons Butter (melted)
  • 1 Tablespoon Sesame Seeds

Burger Sauce

  • 1/2 Cup Mayonnaise
  • 2 Tablespoons Ketchup
  • 2 Tablespoons Finely Diced Dill Pickles or Dill Pickle Relish
  • 1 Tablespoon Yellow Mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cajun Seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • 1 Dash Hot Sauce (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare dish: Reheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking and prepare for slider assembly.
  2. Cook beef and onions: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook and crumble the ground beef with the diced onion until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Drain any excess grease to keep sliders from being greasy.
  3. Season beef mixture: Stir in ketchup, yellow mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook the seasoned mixture for an additional minute to let flavors meld.
  4. Prepare roll base: Slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally in half. Place the bottom halves in the prepared baking dish evenly to form the slider base.
  5. Assemble cheese layers: Arrange American cheese slices evenly over the bottom buns, then sprinkle 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top for gooey cheesiness.
  6. Add beef layer: Spread the cooked beef mixture evenly over the cheese layer, then top with the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese to cover the meat.
  7. Top and season: Place the top halves of the Hawaiian rolls over the beef and cheese layer. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds evenly for a golden crunch.
  8. Bake sliders: Bake the assembled sliders for 12-15 minutes until the cheese is melted through and the tops are lightly golden and toasted.
  9. Prepare burger sauce: While sliders bake, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, diced dill pickles or relish, yellow mustard, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, black pepper, smoked paprika, and hot sauce until smooth and well combined.
  10. Rest and slice: Once baked, let the sliders rest for 5 minutes in the dish to set before slicing carefully into individual sliders.
  11. Serve: Serve the warm slider sandwiches alongside the prepared burger sauce for dipping to add extra tang and flavor.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add more hot sauce to the burger sauce or mix some cayenne pepper into the beef mixture.
  • If you prefer, you can substitute the American cheese with any melty cheese like Swiss or mozzarella.
  • Using fresh Hawaiian rolls is key for the signature sweetness and softness that balances the savory filling.
  • Leftover sliders can be stored in an airtight container and reheated in the oven for best results.
  • Feel free to add pickles, lettuce, or tomato slices inside each slider for extra crunch and freshness.
