This Buffalo Chicken Dip recipe is a creamy, spicy, and cheesy appetizer that’s perfect for game days, parties, or any casual gathering. Made with shredded chicken, cream cheese, sour cream, buffalo sauce, and cheddar cheese, it’s baked until bubbly and topped with blue cheese or ranch dressing. Serve it with crunchy Fritos scoops, baguette slices, and fresh veggies for a crowd-pleasing snack.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken breasts (cooked and shredded)
  • 8 ounce cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup buffalo sauce (Frank’s Red Hots recommended)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
  • 2 Tablespoons blue cheese dressing (or ranch dressing, for garnish)

For Serving

  • Fritos scoops
  • Baguette slices
  • Carrot sticks
  • Celery sticks

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together the shredded chicken, softened cream cheese, sour cream, buffalo sauce, and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese using a large spatula until fully combined and smooth.
  2. Prepare for Baking: Spread the mixture evenly in the bottom of a 1.5-quart baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the mixture.
  3. Bake the Dip: Place the baking dish uncovered in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese on top is completely melted, bubbly, and slightly golden around the edges.
  4. Garnish and Serve: Remove the dip from the oven and immediately drizzle 2 tablespoons of blue cheese or ranch dressing over the top. Serve hot with Fritos scoops, baguette slices, and fresh carrot and celery sticks for dipping and enjoying.

Notes

  • You can substitute the buffalo sauce with your preferred hot sauce or wing sauce to adjust spiciness.
  • Use leftover cooked chicken or rotisserie chicken for convenience.
  • For a thicker dip, drain any excess liquid from the shredded chicken before combining.
  • This dip can be prepared in advance and baked just before serving.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated in the microwave or oven.
