A creamy, frosty, and refreshing green smoothie packed with nutrient-rich spinach or kale, sweet frozen fruits, and almond butter, perfect for a quick and healthy breakfast or snack.

Ingredients

Green Base

  • 1 cup frozen spinach or kale

Fruits

  • ½ frozen banana
  • 1 to 2 cups peeled and frozen orange segments, or frozen pineapple or mango chunks

Add-ins

  • ½ tablespoon almond butter
  • ½ teaspoon chia seeds (optional)

Liquids and Ice

  • 1 cup almond milk, plus more as needed to blend
  • Handful of ice

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients: In a blender, place the frozen spinach or kale, frozen banana, almond butter, 1 cup of your chosen frozen fruit, and chia seeds if using.
  2. Blend with almond milk: Add 1 cup of almond milk to the blender and blend until smooth. Add more almond milk as needed to achieve a creamy consistency.
  3. Add ice and reblend: Add a handful of ice to the blender and blend again until the smoothie is frosty and well combined.
  4. Taste and adjust sweetness: Taste your smoothie and add more frozen fruit if you prefer it sweeter. Blend again, adding almond milk as needed, until smooth and to your desired sweetness.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of frozen fruit to make the smoothie sweeter or more tart to taste.
  • Use any frozen tropical fruits like pineapple, mango, or orange segments to vary the flavor.
  • Chia seeds are optional but add extra fiber and omega-3 fatty acids.
  • Almond milk can be substituted with other plant-based or dairy milk according to preference.
  • For a thicker smoothie, reduce almond milk or add more ice.
