Ingredients

Chicken Filling

  • 2 chicken breasts, finely diced
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp minced fresh ginger

Slaw

  • 1 bag coleslaw mix
  • 4 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey

Wonton Shells & Garnishes

  • 16 wonton wrappers
  • Sweet chili sauce, for serving
  • Chopped cilantro, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Wonton Shells: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray the back of an inverted muffin tin with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Drape the wonton wrappers over the inverted muffin cups to form taco-shaped shells, then bake for 5-7 minutes until they become crisp and golden.
  2. Cook the Chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the finely diced chicken breasts and cook for 3-4 minutes until the chicken is no longer pink and starts to brown.
  3. Glaze the Chicken: Stir in the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, minced garlic, and fresh ginger. Continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes until the chicken is well coated and glazed with the sauce.
  4. Prepare the Slaw: In a mixing bowl, combine the coleslaw mix, thinly sliced green onions, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce, and honey. Toss thoroughly until the slaw is evenly coated with the dressing.
  5. Assemble the Tacos: Carefully fill each crispy wonton shell with the glazed chicken mixture. Top the chicken with a generous amount of the prepared slaw. Drizzle sweet chili sauce over the top, then garnish with chopped cilantro and sesame seeds for added flavor and texture. Serve immediately to enjoy the perfect crunch.

Notes

  • For an extra kick of spice, add sriracha to the chicken mixture or drizzle it over the finished tacos.
  • Swap hoisin sauce for teriyaki sauce if you prefer a milder, sweeter flavor.
  • To keep the wonton shells crisp, fill them just before serving.
