This Apple Pie Dip is a delightful and easy-to-make dessert dip featuring a creamy cream cheese base topped with warm, cinnamon-spiced apple pie filling. Perfect for parties or casual snacking, it combines the flavors of classic apple pie in a smooth, dippable form that pairs wonderfully with graham crackers, cookies, or pretzels.

Ingredients

Apple Pie Filling

  • 3-4 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • Juice from ½ lemon
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch

Cream Cheese Layer

  • 8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
  • 4 oz Cool Whip
  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Make the apple pie filling: In a large bowl, toss the diced apples with lemon juice, brown sugar, and cinnamon until well coated. Heat a large pan over medium-high heat and add the apple mixture along with a splash of water. Stir and bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer uncovered for about 10 minutes until the apples soften. Remove a few tablespoons of the pan liquid and mix it with the cornstarch until smooth. Return the cornstarch mixture to the pan and cook for another 2–3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
  2. Make the cream cheese layer: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy. Add the Cool Whip, confectioners’ sugar, and vanilla extract, then continue mixing until the mixture is fluffy and well blended.
  3. Assemble the dip: Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly into a serving dish. Then spoon the cooled apple pie filling over the top, creating a layered dessert dip.
  4. Serve and enjoy: Serve the dip right away or chill it until ready to serve. Pair it with graham crackers, cookies, or pretzels to enjoy a perfect blend of sweet and salty flavors.

Notes

  • Ensure the apples are cut into similar-sized pieces for even cooking.
  • The dip can be refrigerated for up to 2 days; bring to room temperature before serving for best flavor.
  • For a gluten-free option, pair with gluten-free crackers or pretzels.
  • If you prefer a smoother texture, finely dice the apples or lightly mash some after cooking.
  • You can substitute Cool Whip with whipped cream if preferred.
