Castilian hot chocolate is a Spanish style drinking chocolate so thick and rich that you need a spoon! Also used for dunking churros.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup sugar

Wet Ingredients:

  • 2.5 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 cups whole milk

Instructions

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a pan, mix the cocoa and sugar together.
  2. Prepare Cornstarch Paste: Dissolve the cornstarch in the water and add it to the pan, stirring to make a paste.
  3. Heat and Whisk: Heat the mixture, then pour in the milk while whisking. Heat over medium heat until it simmers, stirring often. Continue heating and stirring until the cocoa thickens and becomes glossy.
  4. Serve: Pour into large mugs and enjoy.
