Crockpot French Onion Beefloaf with Melted Swiss Cheese is a succulent, slow-cooked beefloaf topped with golden caramelized onions and melted Swiss cheese.

Ingredients

Beefloaf:

  • 2 pounds beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Toppings:

  • 8 slices Swiss cheese
  • 2 large onions
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup broth

Instructions

  1. Combine the Beefloaf Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, milk, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  2. Shape and Place in Crockpot: Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it in the crockpot.
  3. Caramelize Onions: In a pan, caramelize onions in butter over medium heat for about 20 minutes until golden and soft.
  4. Prepare Onion Topping: Once caramelized, add broth to the onions and let it absorb.
  5. Layer Ingredients: Layer caramelized onions and broth over the beefloaf in the crockpot.
  6. Slow Cook: Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours until beefloaf is cooked through.
  7. Add Swiss Cheese: Just before serving, top the beefloaf with Swiss cheese slices and allow them to melt.
  8. Serve: Serve warm with melted Swiss cheese and caramelized onions on top.

Notes

  • Caramelizing the onions slowly enhances their flavor.
  • Swiss cheese adds a rich and creamy finish to the dish.
