This Mummy Meatloaf is a fun and spooky take on a classic comfort food. Wrapped in puff pastry to resemble a mummy, this meatloaf is both delicious and visually striking.

Ingredients

Meatloaf:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Mummy Wrap:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 black olives for eyes

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the meatloaf: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  3. Shape the meatloaf: Form the mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased baking dish.
  4. Bake: Bake for 45 minutes until cooked through.
  5. Add the pastry: Cut the puff pastry into strips and wrap them around the meatloaf, leaving spaces for the eyes.
  6. Finish baking: Return the meatloaf to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the pastry is golden brown.
  7. Final touches: Place olive halves in the spaces for eyes. Serve with marinara sauce for a ‘bloody’ effect.
