These soft and fluffy baked donut muffins are rolled in cinnamon sugar for a sweet, nostalgic treat—just like Grandma used to make.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp cinnamon

Wet Ingredients

  • ½ cup milk
  • ⅓ cup butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Topping

  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat & Prep
    Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 12-cup muffin tin or line with paper liners.
  2. Step 2: Mix Dry Ingredients
    In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Step 3: Mix Wet Ingredients
    In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Step 4: Combine
    Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and mix just until combined. Do not overmix—this keeps your muffins fluffy.
  5. Step 5: Fill & Bake
    Spoon the batter evenly into the muffin cups (about ¾ full). Bake for 15–18 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Step 6: Add Cinnamon Sugar Topping
    While muffins are still warm, combine ¼ cup sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon in a small bowl. Gently roll or sprinkle the tops of each muffin with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
