These dinner rolls are a delightful addition to any meal, with their pillowy soft texture and perfectly golden crust. They are simple to make and will impress your family and guests alike.

Ingredients

Dinner Rolls:

  • ⅓ cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • Extra butter for brushing

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the yeast: In a bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let it sit until foamy, about 5 minutes.
  2. Mix wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together warm milk, melted butter, egg, and sugar.
  3. Combine ingredients: Combine the wet ingredients with the yeast mixture, then gradually mix in the flour and salt.
  4. Knead the dough: Knead until a smooth dough forms, about 8 minutes.
  5. Let the dough rise: Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  6. Shape the rolls: Punch down the dough and divide into 12–16 equal pieces. Shape into smooth balls.
  7. Second rise: Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise again for 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat and bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 18–22 minutes or until golden.

Notes

  • You can brush the rolls with melted butter after baking for added flavor.
  • These rolls are best served warm.
