Delightfully sweet and salty, these Chocolate Covered Pretzels are an easy and fun Valentine’s Day treat. Crisp pretzels are dipped in creamy melted milk chocolate and decorated with colorful sprinkles, then left to set on parchment paper for a perfect crunchy and chocolaty snack.

Ingredients

Pretzels

  • 3040 pretzels (twists or rods)

Chocolate

  • 8 ounces milk chocolate or Wilton Candy Melts

Decorations

  • 1/4 cup assorted sprinkles

Other

  • Wax paper or parchment paper for drying

Instructions

  1. Melt the Chocolate: Place the chocolate or candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until completely melted and smooth. Alternatively, melt the chocolate using a double boiler by gently heating over simmering water and stirring until smooth.
  2. Dip the Pretzels: Take each pretzel and dip it halfway into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is evenly coated. Let any excess chocolate drip back into the bowl to avoid clumps.
  3. Add Sprinkles: Immediately sprinkle the chocolate-coated pretzels with your desired sprinkles while the chocolate is still wet, so they adhere properly.
  4. Set to Dry: Place the decorated pretzels on a sheet of wax paper or parchment paper in a single layer. Allow the chocolate to fully harden at room temperature, which typically takes about 30 minutes.

Notes

  • Use good quality milk chocolate or candy melts for the best flavor and smooth coating.
  • If your chocolate starts to thicken, gently reheat it to maintain a smooth consistency.
  • Store finished pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature to keep them crisp.
  • For a festive touch, use themed sprinkles that match the occasion or season.
  • These treats can be refrigerated for 10-15 minutes to speed up drying, but avoid moisture build-up.
