Ingredients

Seasonings:

  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon mustard powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground sage
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper

Heavy cream substitute:

  • Substitute heavy cream with an alternative of your choice

Soup:

  • 1 1/4 lb. bone-in chicken breast
  • Salt/Pepper (to taste)
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 yellow onion (diced)
  • ¾ cup diced carrots
  • 2 ribs celery (diced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 10 oz. refrigerated tortellini

Instructions

  1. Sear the Chicken: Season chicken with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Sear in olive oil until browned. Shred chicken.
  2. Make the Soup: Melt butter in a pot, sauté onions, carrots, celery, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and seasonings. Add broth and chicken. Simmer, then add tortellini and cook until tender. Season to taste.

Notes

  • Searing chicken is optional, adds flavor but can be skipped.
