Ingredients

Ground Beef:

1 lb

Onion, diced:

1 small

Potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced:

5–6 medium (Yukon Gold or Russet)

Cheddar Cheese, shredded, divided:

2 cups

Cream of Mushroom Soup:

1 can (10.5 oz)

Milk:

1/2 cup

Garlic Powder:

1/2 tsp

Salt:

1/2 tsp

Black Pepper:

1/4 tsp

Optional: Chopped Parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and diced onion until browned and no longer pink. Drain excess grease.
  2. Make the sauce: In a mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
  3. Layer the casserole: Alternate layers of potatoes, beef mixture, and 1 cup of cheese in a greased baking dish.
  4. Cover and bake: Bake covered with foil at 350°F (175°C) for 60–70 minutes, until potatoes are fork-tender.
  5. Add cheese and finish baking: Remove foil, sprinkle remaining cheese on top, and bake uncovered for an additional 10–15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  6. Let it rest: Allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.
