Ingredients

Brownie Batter:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
  • 6 oz (170g) semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup (25g) cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Cheesecake Mixture:

  • 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup (60g) sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Line an 8×8-inch (20x20cm) square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two sides. Lightly grease the paper and sides of the pan.
  2. Melt Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine butter and chopped chocolate. Microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring between each, until melted and smooth. Let cool for 5 minutes.
  3. Mix Brownie Batter: Whisk in granulated sugar, then add eggs one at a time, whisking well after each. Stir in vanilla extract. Fold in dry ingredients.
  4. Prepare Cheesecake: In a separate bowl, beat softened cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar, egg, sour cream, and vanilla extract. Beat until creamy.
  5. Layer and Swirl: Pour most of the brownie batter into the pan, then add dollops of cheesecake mixture. Top with remaining brownie batter and swirl together.
  6. Bake: Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35-40 minutes until set. Cool completely.
  7. Serve: Chill for cleaner cuts, then slice into squares.
